DC Youth Orchestra Program: Playing On!
The video opens with a boy holding his cello; he says, "I really like DCYOP because they inspire me to play with other musicians." It then continues with video from DCYOP's virtual spring concert of students ages4-18 playing string, winds, brass, and percussion instruments "together" from their own homes. The DC Youth Orchestra Program Logo appears. The music in the background is of the Youth Orchestra, our most advanced ensemble, playing Georges Bizet's Habanera from Carmen, and the voiceover says, "The DC Youth Orchestra Program is delivering our full curriculum of music education virtually to hundreds of students this fall through online group lessons, special classes in music theory and composition, and ensemble rehearsals. We accept every child who wants to enroll regardless of their family’s ability to pay tuition and, in addition to our Tuition Assistance Program for families in need, DCYOP has established a COVID-19 Assistance Fund to help families particularly impacted by the pandemic. Your support is needed more than ever – please help us serve the our students, families, and communities through the power of music!" The video closes with DCYOP's logo and the words "thank you" on the screen.
