• United, we fight to help everyone get – and stay – healthy. This spring, United Way’s 211 hotline partnered with the Sedgwick County Health Department to answer questions about the coronavirus and screen individuals for COVID-19 testing. In the first four months, 211 took over 42,000 calls.
• United, we fight for students to excel in their education. United Way of the Plains’ Read to Succeed program paired 410 third grade students with volunteer reading coaches last year. These coaches met with their reading buddy weekly to help them improve their reading skills and set them on the path to success in school, work and life.
• United, we fight for people to be financial stability. Last year, United Way of the Plains helped people get budget counseling 1,865 times.
