Providing Independence

The clients we serve are capable individuals who desire more mobility and independence. Many of them work, attend universities, or both. As an example, our clients work in diverse fields such as teaching, counseling, fine arts, scientific research, translation services or own their own businesses. All Cats Deserve to Live!

A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness (KPOH) was founded on the belief that all cats deserve to live including the disabled, ill, abandoned, abused, stray and feral. This small but mighty Rescue adds a "w" to the ending of the word "NO" and gets things done! The founder and her husband (an Army Veteran of 21 years & professional pilot) physically rescue from the streets/dangerous situations and network to help all animals.Some of their more epic rescues include Hurricane Dorian.

Puppy Survives Parvo with the help of Austin Pets Alive!'s Lifesaving Programs

Lethargic and scared, Lucas was just six weeks old when he first arrived at APA!’s door. Ridden with parvovirus, he was feeling the effects throughout his entire body. This virus takes hold of puppies fast, so it was just a matter of time before the symptoms overcame this young life. Thankfully, a transporter drove Lucas to APA! as soon as he was found to have the virus. He was then immediately placed in our Parvo Puppy ICU to begin treatment.

Maria's Story

With her window cracked open midway, Maria, a mother of two boys, joined hundreds of other families waiting for one of our mass distributions to begin. She had known about the food distributions, but she never imagined she would be among the vehicles waiting in the parking lot of Del Valle High School.
“Like everybody else, everything was going good until it wasn’t, and I’ve been unemployed,” Maria said. “We were both working. The kids were getting meals at school, so we were able to maintain ourselves and were not in this situation.”
